Dear colleagues,
Last Tuesday we finally had a meeting between the Board of the Union and the Management of the Company. This meeting was postponed twice in the same month by the Company and although they were trying to avoid it, they were left with no other option than to attend it as a result of our pressure and our struggle all the previous time during the year.
During the meeting we were supposed to get a response to the demands that were put forward on 12/09/2024 that included a draft of our CLA with raises for all, and demands that cover all aspects of work.
The Management attended the meeting and gave vague answers to our demands, they tried to convince us that we should be satisfied that we are not able to make it through for more than half of the month, or not being able to make ends meet, and pay our basic needs.
We are talking about a company that is one of the biggest worldwide with 500000 employees, 13.000 of which are based in Greece. A company that has the biggest portion of the sector in the world, with 8 billion dollars worldwide. While in Greece they have an annual turnover of 453 million in 2023, with an increase of 9.63% compared to 2022. While the profits were 61 million with an increase of 17% compared to the same time period.
We need to respond to them with a clear message that we are here, and we will not
back down until we get what we want!
Our demands are fair and they represent a matter of survival in comparison to the Company, that the only thing they will lose is just a portion of their dividends of 30 million last year, and 40 the year before that. We are discussing with a company that 9 years ago employed 2.500 employees, a figure that was increased by 520%, while our wages stayed the same since 2010, and the basic wage has been increased during the same period by 21.5%. During the last 5 years, prices have gone up by an average of 16.5%, while the prices for food have gone up by 33%, and for clothing by 47%, while the cost of energy has also gone up by 22%.
This year we have gone a long way, we have a Union that numbers more than a 1000 members, we have started a fight along with our colleagues in the rest of the big Call Center Companies Webhelp, TTEC, and Foundever. We have inspired thousands of our colleagues in Greece and abroad with our fight, strikes in India, Portugal, and France, while we had fought side by side with our colleagues all over Greece that have similar demands.
We need to show them once more, that this is not a fight for a whim, this is a fight for survival!
We stand together, no one is alone, we will fight and we will win, we will have them sign a CLA.
We fight like our colleagues do in E-Food and Wolt, supported by the Union of Hotel and Restaurant Workers, we will fight and we will win like our colleagues in Cosco won, for the social insurance to be recognized, as heavy and unhealthy, not starting from now, but going back to 2012.
>> The Central Board suggests striking in response to the company’s stance. The dates and length of the strike will be decided during our next General Assembly which will take place on Saturday 26/10 in the Labor Center of Piraeus, at 16.00.
>> All join the Demonstration on 7/11, at 18.00 in front of the Ministry of Immigration when our Union, along with the Union of Webhelp, and SETIP, and members of the Lawyers’ Union will have a meeting with the General Secretary of the Ministry of Immigration regarding all matters concerning the new immigration law, and our demands for its amendment.
