The Teleperformance Workers’ Union SETEP calls on all colleagues to participate in the strike on 28 February. We will join our voices with all our colleagues in the sector, at Webhelp, Foundever, and TTEC, who are experiencing the same or very similar problems as ours. Along with the students, rail workers, teachers, health workers, and our fellow metal workers and dock workers.
We Teleperformance workers know first-hand what the “let’s go and see” logic that led to the state crime in Tempe means. The intensification, the month-long and short-term renewals, the termination of contracts 8 days after their renewal, as happened yesterday in a Client X department dealing with content moderation and AI training, all reflect the textbook strategy of maximizing profitability with complete disregard for our lives. At the same time, the company is hiring hundreds of new colleagues. It brazenly admits to letting 1800 workers go in a year, and 700 in December alone. And 2025 has just begun…
In the same department, those left living with the agony of month-to-month renewals are asked to become “ambassadors” of the company and make posts on social media to create damage control for their own practices. They have money for posts in various media, praising “the social face of the company” and how “the employees in Athens and Chania are having a good time,” but there is no money to give raises so we can pay the rent for us workers.
We all live and work in a vast valley of Tempe, experiencing general job insecurity and dangers at every turn of our everyday lives, whether in trains and public transport, in understaffed and deliberately crumbling hospitals, or in the schools with sponsors they want to impose, where ceilings by chance do not fall on the heads of our children. The intensification, the pressure, the monitoring of every last second of our working day.
Our struggle for the signing of a Collective Labor Agreement with rights and achievements for all, raises that cover our modern needs, immediate implementation of the Presidential Decree on the organization of working time for those working in front of screens, and the immediate provision of ergonomic equipment to all colleagues who work from home is directly linked to the struggle against the logic that created the crime in Tempe, and the policies that promote its cover-up.
We make it clear that our lives are NOT a cost. On 28 February, we all participate in the strike!
We will not step back! Nor will we accept to live as modern slaves and expendables for their profits! We assert that the promise we made to be the voice of all those that died will be fulfilled by fighting to the end!
Let’s stand united and strong!
We demand:
- The immediate re-hiring of all our colleagues to other positions immediately. Immediately freeze all recruitment until they are absorbed into other departments.
- The signing of a Collective Labour Agreement with: permanent contracts for all colleagues directly at Teleperformance, to immediately stop the disgrace of the Payroll Companies. Raises for all that meet our needs, rights and gains that affect every aspect of our work.
- Hold all criminal and political accountable for the crime of Tempe.
- Immediate implementation of the necessary health and safety measures for all, especially for colleagues who work from home and provide ergonomic desks and chairs.
We call:
- To the General National strike on 28/02 and the gathering at Syntagma at 11.00, which has already been announced by dozens of Labor Centers, Federations and Unions all over Greece.
- In the event of the Piraeus Labor Center on 12/02 at 18.30 for health and safety measures at workplaces.
- At the Solidarity and Support Party organized by our Union on 15/02 at 20.00 at the Piraeus Labor Center.
- At the demonstration in front of the DoValue offices in Kallithea on 19/02, at 18.00 against the auctions. No house in the hands of bankers!
- In an afternoon demonstration on the day of the pre-agenda discussion in Parliament on the crime in Tempii.
