WE ARE ESCALATING THE STRUGGLE BY ORGANIZING A GENERAL STRIKE IN COORDINATION WITH LABOR CENTERS AND OUR SECTORAL UNION SETIP
The government is promoting the possibility for employers in the telecommunications sector, such as Teleperformance, to:
• “Keep” each employee at work for up to 13 hours a day, i.e., supplement what is currently in effect, the 13-hour workday, with two or more employers to “meet the increased needs of the customer.”
• Increase or decrease working hours even within the week, according to the needs of their businesses. There are now no obstacles to arranging work, which can be done from one week to one year, and every year, depending on the needs of the employer.
• Hire employees on “two-day” contracts!
No sacrifice for the profits of business groups and the hawks of war
This is the much-vaunted “European normality” and “rule of law” that the New Democracy, PASOK, and SYRIZA parties talk about, the very parties that have voted for and implemented all the anti-labor laws of the last 15 years. These are the famous EU directives that only provide for an 11-hour break between two shifts, i.e., 13 hours of work per day.
We demand:
• That the government immediately withdras the anti-labor monstrosity it has put up for consultation! Stable jobs with rights, 7 hours a day, 5 days a week, 35 hours a week for everyone!
• Wage increases and a collective labor agreement.
• The restoration of achievements such as the unfreezing of three-year contracts, the after-effect clause, and the principle of the most favorable contract.
• Money for wages, pensions, health, education, and not for the slaughterhouses of war and the profits of the few! Immediate measures against inflation and to protect the income of working-class households.
• No involvement of our country in the carnage of war! Close the bases of death throughout the country! Bring back the ships and personnel of the armed forces on missions abroad.
• Protection of popular housing! Full legislative protection of the primary residence of working-class households and a ban on foreclosures on primary residences.
