WORKERS KNOW NO BORDERS – ONE STRUGGLE, ONE ENEMY

We, the workers at Teleperformance, work on contracts for monopolies and multinationals of the calibre of Apple. We express our solidarity with the workers of Apple Retail Italia, who are striking on 18 September across Italy, demanding permanent contracts, stable employment and effective measures to tackle the ever-increasing intensification of working conditions.

The strike involves more than 1,600 workers across Apple’s 17 stores in Italy.

Multinationals, with their huge profits, are constantly increasing their productivity and profitability, passing the cost on to us: more work, greater pressure, fewer staff.

This is the reality of capitalism across the world.

A system whose sole criterion is the profits of corporate groups and monopolies. A system which, in order to secure ever-greater profits, intensifies the exploitation of the working class, tramples on rights and hard-won gains, and turns our labour into untold profits for a handful of parasites.

It is the very dead-ends of their rotten system that give rise to rivalries and wars. These are linked to the imperialists’ attempt to redivide the world, to bolster their interests and to ensure the profitability of their monopolistic conglomerates.

The very same people who demand that we work ever harder for their profits are also demanding that we foot the bill for their wars.

That we bear the cost of inflation and cuts to social benefits to fund the war economy and military equipment. To accept that our workplaces and infrastructure are being turned into cogs in the war machine. To accept that workers and people are being killed for the interests of corporate groups and the world’s powerful.

In Greece and Italy, it is we workers who are footing the bill for military involvement, the cost of armaments, NATO missions, and the criminal policies of our governments and the EU.

We will not become a link in the chain of their wars.

Workers in over 40 ports across the Mediterranean are sending the same message through a day of action and strike. We have no interest in the rivalries that lead peoples to slaughter. On the contrary, we are already paying the price through rising costs, job insecurity, intensified work and increased exploitation.

This is why it is particularly important for workers to coordinate across borders and sectors.

From Apple workers in Italy to the dockers of Piraeus and workers at more than 40 ports across the Mediterranean and Europe, who are taking part in a joint International Day of Action on 30 October, a common message is being sent:

We workers have nothing to divide us.

We are up against the same policies that prioritise corporate profits over our needs. The same policies that demand sacrifices from us in the name of competitiveness, profitability and military planning.

In the face of their profits, our strength lies in organisation, solidarity and our shared struggle.

We welcome the strike by Apple workers in Italy.

We stand with them for:

  • Stable and permanent jobs for all.
  • Recruitment and a substantial increase in staff numbers.
  • A reduction in the intensity of work and humane working conditions.
  • Collective Labour Agreements with substantial pay rises.
  • No sacrifices for the profits of monopolies.
  • No involvement of workers in war plans.
  • An end to wars and militarisation.

APPLE WORKERS IN ITALY ARE NOT ALONE!

THE STRUGGLE OF WORKERS IN ALL COUNTRIES IS ONE AND THE SAME!

NO SACRIFICES FOR THEIR PROFITS AND THEIR WARS!

ORGANISATION – SOLIDARITY – STRUGGLE!

SOLIDARITY WITH THE STRIKING APPLE WORKERS IN ITALY
