The Teleperformance Worker’s Union calls on all colleagues working in the Piraeus buildings, as well as those working from home on projects based in Piraeus, to participate in the 24-hour strike in Piraeus declared by the Piraeus Labor Center, in coordination with the Elefsina – West Attica for a 24-hour strike in Thriasio Pedio.
As workers from dozens of nationalities around the world, we welcome with internationalist solidarity the joint day of action of the International Coordination of Dockworkers with the slogan “Port workers do not work for war,” which will take place on February 6, in which the ENEDEP union will participate in Piraeus together with port workers from Italy, Turkey, the Basque Country, and Morocco.
The anti-labor and anti-popular policies of the current government, which expand upon and rely on the legislative framework of all previous governments, leave us all exposed, without protection and safety measures, because these measures represent a cost to employers. This is why our colleagues lost their lives at the factory in Trikala. This is why 75% of our colleagues who work from home have no health and safety measures in place. At the same time, employers announce that they are implementing the strictest European standards.
2025 was a record year for workplace “accidents”—employer crimes—with over 200 deaths of colleagues who never returned home. This policy has slashed our income and sent prices skyrocketing for widely consumed goods, energy, and rent. Our salaries don’t last beyond the 15th of each month, and many of us find second jobs to cover our basic needs.
The latest developments with the fire that broke out in the death traps (petrol tanks) of the CoralGas company in Perama, next to homes, sports facilities, and the port, are the last straw. In an area where more than 140 tanks coexist with thousands of people who live and work in the wider area, but also a few hundred meters away from the OilOne tanks in Drapetsona that spread cancer, creating a suffocating cocktail with enormous risks.
At the same time, TP employees experience daily intensification and pressure to achieve targets in our departments, short-term contracts, insecurity due to constant project changes, musculoskeletal problems from the lack of ergonomic equipment at home, and hearing problems from phone calls. At the same time, the stressful environment forces colleagues to even ask for “permission” to go to the toilet.
TP management continues to fail to provide a meaningful response to our demands for a collective labour agreement, higher wages and humane working conditions. Yet it knows how to play games, even after a court decision declaring the dismissal of union members illegal, in an attempt to get away with the union. We call on them to immediately rehire our colleagues from the union’s Board who were dismissed based on the recent court decision that ruled in favor of our union, and to stop wasting time.
Through our organized and collective action, we can stand side by side with our colleagues in Pireaus and shout out loud: enough is enough! Enough with the policy that puts our lives at risk for the sake of profits!
On February 6, we are striking because we can’t take it anymore. We will not accept living worse than in the last century! We are striking because we do not accept this insecurity, intensification, and the dangers that are imposed on us as the norm.
7 hours – 5 days – 35 hours. Signing of a Collective Labor Agreement with substantial immediate wage increases
